?Neben der Luftunruhe ist die Aufhellung des Nachthimmels das größte Hindernis für die Beobachtung lichtschwacher Objekte
jenseits des Sonnensystems. Durch Straßenlampen und andere künstliche
Beleuchtung ist der Himmel in menschlichen Siedlungen nicht mehr richtig
schwarz. Dadurch leidet auch der Kontrast und damit die Wahrnehmung der Deep-Sky-Objekte.
Je nach Art des Himmelsobjektes kann man jedoch einen Teil des
störenden Lichtes wegfiltern und damit die Beobachtung der Objekte
erleichtern.
Der EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC S-II Filter
nutzt dabei die Eigenschaft der sogenannten Emissionsnebel aus. Diese
Objekte leuchten in bestimmten Farben, den sogenannten Emissionslinien.
Die Emissionslinien sind mit bestimmten chemischen Elementen verknüpft
- in diesem Fall der ionisierte Schwefel. Der EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC S-II
Nebelfilter blockt dabei alle anderen Farben (und damit auch fast das
gesamte künstliche Licht) ab und lässt nur die Emissionslinien des ionisierten Schwefels bei 672 nm
durch. Der Effekt ist verblüffend: Plötzlich werden Nebel an Stellen
sichtbar, die ohne Filter vollkommen leer erscheinen. Bei leicht
aufgehelltem Himmel sind viele planetarische Nebel, Emissionsnebel und Supernovareste bei Einsatz dieses Filters vollkommen problemfrei zu sehen.
Ein Muss für jeden visuellen Amateurastronomen und auch für die Astrophotografie.
