Information on disposal of old and used batteries

As a consumer, you are required by law to dispose of old and used batteries at designated collection points. Disposal in household waste is not permitted.

Batteries containing hazardous substances are indicated with a waste bin symbol (crossed out waste bin). They are also marked with the chemical symbol of the corresponding hazardous substance contained in the battery:

  • Cd: Cadmium
  • Hg: Mercury
  • Pb: Lead

Information on disposal of electrical devices

Removable batteries must be removed from the electrical device and disposed of separately at designated collection points. Electrical devices marked with a waste bin symbol – either on the packaging or the device itself – must not be placed in household waste. Instead, these devices must be brought to a public collection point for disposal.

If you have purchased a device from us, we are required by law to dispose of a similar old device for you free of charge. Depending on the device type, there are a number of options for disposal:

Alternatively, you can return your old device directly to us free of charge or take it to a public collection point in the United Kingdom (e.g. recycling centre).

- You have purchased a device from us with a screen which is smaller than 50 cm or less than 100 cm2 in area: Please bring your device to a public collection point in the United Kingdom (e.g. recycling centre). The costs of disposal will be borne by Bresser GmbH.
